10 years have got behind you

10 years have got behind you

there could be many different titles to the story. “from Paris ’97 to Paris ’08“, “ten years have got behind you“, “Stockholm Syndrome“,…but their prefer to keep it simple…let’s stick to “their Story“.

Where does their story begin? well, they first met in 1997 on a beautiful Wednesday morning. It must have been around 8 o’clock, during an english class in Lycée Michel Rodange (Teacher: M. Scheuer). thierry, for some mysterious reasons, had to change school and leave Lycée de Garçons. So they ended up in the same class in 1997 and that’s where mina & thierry first met.

Before thierry came to mina’s class, the class had planned a trip to Paris. Who could have imagined that this weekend would be a crucial moment in their lives.

the weekend was a real success, thierry enjoyed the new environment and quickly gained respect with his jokes (as illustrated in the picture below). Somehow these scenes stayed in mina’s mind…

there is one other moment they do remember from that trip. it must have been some hours after the “swim”. they were sitting together in a small café at the same table with two other girls, having a good laugh. they are still desperately looking for those two girls. if you are one of them, please let them know!

the bus drive back to luxembourg on the 20. April 1997 was probably their most important bus drive, EVER. thierry was responsible for the music and had the absolute brilliant idea to put in High Hopes, Pink Floyd. from that moment on, thierry was always connected to the song in mina’s mind.

life continued pretty normally back home in luxembourg. the end of this school year in July 1997 was the end of the first chapter of their story.

For 10 years, they completely lost touch. thierry stayed in mina’s mind as her pink floyd revelator and mina stayed in thierry’s mind as the sweetest girl of the class (and a lot other classes as well).

mina became an architect in brussels, belgium – thierry became a computer scientist in fribourg, switzerland.

You may be wondering how it is possible for two people who haven’t seen each other for so long and live 1000 km apart, to fall in love and end up getting married?

Well,….on October 30th, 2007, 5:44pm. mina wrote thierry the following facebook message:

“bass du deen thierry nicolas deen eis am bus pink floyd ze lauschtere gin huet wi mer op parais gefuer sin?”

(In English: “Are you the Thierry Nicolas who made us listen to pink floyd on our way to paris?”)

now, if you want to know thierry’s answer to that question, you’ll have to come to the wedding…
